Indian Railways (IR) is preparing a database of qualified MBBS/Paramedical employees in Railways who are not working as Doctors/Paramedics so as to train them going forward.
There are several employees in IR who are doctors/paramedics by qualification but work in a different department say, Traffic, Accounts or Personnel.
GMs/DRMs have been empowered to engage certified medical practitioners/paramedical staff over and above those already available in case of need.
IR is also procuring more ventilators besides taking efforts for in-house development by ICF Perambur. Railway PSUs have been roped in to arrange ventilators for railway zones based on need. This is being through the corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme of rail PSUs under supervision from Railway Board.
Zones/PUs preparing prototype for coach hospital has to share details with photographs and videos for benefit of all and further improvements.
The Railway Board has directed ramping up of hand sanitizer production at its production units, sheds and workshops. In house development of personal protective equipment (PPE) is also being done on a war footing besides ensuring safety of doctors and paramedical staff.
Goods Rakes held up for want of labour have to be released with the help of state governments. The matter has to be escalated to the Ministry of Home Affairs’ (MHA) control room through the Railway Ministry representative.
Workplace related measures
Guidelines has been issued to make proper care /arrangement of stay and food for stranded staff/ contract labourers besides ensuring timely payments to contractual staff by the contractors.
General Managers (GM) have been directed to ensure payment of service contract bills of contractors till February 2020. Payments under Capital and RRSK (safety fund) are to be done immediately.
Social Distancing /hygiene to be ensured in offices / work places including trackmen, asset maintainers and contract labourers have to be ensured by spreading awareness.
Sufficient soap, water, sanitizers to be made available at all places
All employees should be sensitized again to provide information on recent foreign travel of any family member or self. The officer and family would then be quarantined as per guidelines.
Thermal scanning of essential staff reporting for duty will continue.
