Earns close to Rs 40 crore

Western Railway has earned revenue of Rs.39.42 Crore till August 2019 this year, generated from commercial advertisements with a major share of Rs.14.10 Crore from Out of Home media, Rs.5.61 Crore from Mobile Assets, Rs.4.29 Crore from Rail Display Network and Rs.14.88 Crore from existing publicity contracts, which is highest amongst all Zones of Indian Railways during this period.
According to a press release issued by Shri Ravinder Bhakar – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, WR has always been keen on giving optimum facilities to its passengers, as well as taking measures to improve the revenue of the railways. In continuation to this, Mumbai Division of Western Railway has finalized tender for Development, Installation, Operation & Maintenance of Infotainment System. 35 LED TV Screens (Touch Screens) will be installed at booking offices of 16 Suburban stations viz. Churchgate, Charni Road, Grant Road, Mahalaxmi, Prabhadevi, Dadar, Mahim, Santacruz, Andheri, Goregaon, Kandivali, Borivali, Bhayander, Vasai Road, Nallasopara & Virar and 4 Main Line Non-suburban stations viz. Mumbai Central (Main), Vapi, Valsad & Surat. The advertising rights will be for a period of 5 years. 70% of the area on the screen will be utilized for display of advertisement and 30% of the area will be utilized for Railway Information. Shri Bhakar said that the main aim of the infotainment system is to provide touch screen enquiry system (which is one of the desirable amenities) to passengers along with generating Non Fare Revenue for Railways. Passengers will be able to have access to information regarding PNR status, Train Status, Berth Availability, Amenities at stations etc. This contract will generate revenue of Rs. 1.56 Crore in 5 years.
