The number of AC III tier coaches in service as on 31st March, 2019 on Indian Railways is 7329.
The number of coaches including AC-III tier coaches, in the composition of trains depends, inter-alia, on factors like traffic pattern, schedule of train etc. further, the composition of a large number of trains such as unreserved trains, Antyodaya Express Train, Day time Intercity Trains, Shatabdi Express Trains does not include AC-III Tier Class.
The number of AC-III tier coaches manufactured by the Production Units of Indian Railways are as follows:-

The production of AC-III tier coaches, has been scaled up in the last five years, as is evident from the above-given table.
