Approximately 750 track kilometres of railway lines have been electrified in the financial year 2020-21, according to information provided by South Central Railway in a statement.
Of this, 612 track km are new sections. Electrification of 64 track km of double lines and 69 track km of third lines was also completed. SCR was able to ensure completion of this work despite COVID-19 disruptions in the year.
Work to complete electrification continued right upto the last week of the financial year. Across three states, 182 track km of work was completed recently. Umdanagar – Falaknama and Vikarabad – Kohir sections were electrified in Telanagana, Tenali – Repalle and Kavalai – Ulawapadu (third line) sections were electrified in Andhra Pradesh and Akola – Lohad sections were electrified in Maharashtra.
In Telangana, Lingampet Jagityal – Mortad (50.50 Km), Vikarabad – Kohir (44.82 Km), Medchal – Manoharabad (13.08 Km), Falaknuma – Umdanagar (13.69 Km), Raghavapuram – Kolanur (30 km), Kolanur – Potakapalli (12 km) sections were electrified in 2020-21.
