East Coast Railway is committed for ensuring safety of both passengers and Rail Users under the leadership of Vidya Bhushan, General Manager. To enhance the safety of train operations and facilitate hassle-free movement of both Rail & Road Traffic, Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and Road Under Bridges (RUBs) & Limited Height Subways are being constructed by abolishing Level Crossing Gates.
In order to achieve this goal, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed on 17th November, 2020 between East Coast Railway and Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd (TCIL) for execution of work for construction of six ROBs between Ranital-Jenapur Railway Stations of Ranital-Cuttack Railway Section under Khurda Road Division of East Coast Railway in Howrah-Chennai Main line.
MOU for construction of 6 ROBs has been signed to one party on composite contract basis at the estimated cost of Rs 436.87 Crores. Anil Kumar, General Manager, TCIL signed the MoU with Brijesh Mishra, Chief General Engineer of ECoR in presence of Narottam Singh Uikey, Principal Chief Engineer, East Coast Railway.
The ROBs scheduled to be constructed are 01).At Level Crossing (LC) Number 118 between Ranital & Bhadrak Stations, 02. At LC Number 125 between Kenduapada & Manjuri Road Stations, 03. At LC Number 129 between Manjuri Road & Baitarani RoadStations,4. At LC Number 136 between Baitarani Road & Korai Halt Stations,05. At LC Number 142 between Jajpur Keonjhar Road & Jakhapura Stations and 06. At LC Number 147 between Jakhapura and Jenapur Stations over Khurda Road Division.
The work for these ROBs has been assigned to TCIL by Railway Board and TCIL will be paid management fee @ 3.64 % over the project cost. Modality for execution and standard MoU was finalized at the level of Railway Board and work specific MoU was to be signed at the level of East Coast Railway, in consultation with TCIL.
East Coast Railway is the first Railway to execute the MoU with the PSU for execution of work for construction of ROBs.
