IRCTC plans to restart operations of its premium Ahmedabad-Mumbai and Lucknow-Delhi Tejas services from 17th October 2020.
Preparations are currently underway to restart both services, says Indian Railways Catering and Touring Corporation, or IRCTC, in a statement.
Several COVID-19 related measures will be taken in order to ensure safety and health protocols are followed. These are:
- Every alternate seat will be kept vacant for an initial period.
- Passengers will not be allowed to exchange seats.
- All passengers will be provided with a COVID-19 protection kit containing sanitizers, gloves, a mask and a face shield.
- Face masks/covers will be mandatory for passengers and staff.
- Aarogya Setu app installation on phone will be mandatory.
- Passengers will undergo thermal screening and sanitization process before entering a coach.
- The coaches will be thoroughly sanitized and disinfected at regular intervals.
Staff of the two Tejas services are being trained to manage operations in the current COVID-19 pandemic, said IRCTC in a statement.
The Lucknow-Delhi-Lucknow IRCTC Tejas Express Train No. 82501/02 first started operations almost exactly a year ago on 4th October 2019.
The Ahmedabad – Mumbai – Ahmedabad IRCTC Tejas Express Train No. 82901/02 hit the rails on 19th January 2020.
