West Bengal based Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) has rolled out its 100th locomotive for the financial year despite the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 lockdown in the country.
The 100th unit was a WAG-9 HC class locomotive numbered 32904.
India’s largest locomotive manufacturer resumed production in May 2020 after a 49-day pause forced by the lockdown.
CLW quickly reached the 50 loco milestone in 70 working days, rolling out the 50th unit in July 2020. Only 32 days were required for the next 50 locos, according to data from the Limca Record holder for the most number of locomotives produced in a year. The unit had created a record by producing 431 units in FY 2019-20.
