Eleven persons suffered injuries in a foot over bridge mishap at Barddhaman station of Eastern Railway (ER) on Friday afternoon.
The injured persons,were attended by the railway doctors and sent to the Barddhaman Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Of them, nine persons were discharged after first aid and minor treatment.
The remaining 2 have been kept in hospital for medical observation, though they are stable and ok.
In a statement, Eastern Railway clarified “There was some hustle bustle among passengers going up and passenger coming down from foot over bridge (FOB) at platform numbers 4 and 5 of Barddhaman station.”
“Train number 63519 Up Barddhaman-Asansol Passenger scheduled to leave Barddhaman at 15:20 hrs was timely placed at 15:10 hrs at PF4. Timely announcement was also done.”
“DN Poorva Exp arrived at PF5 at 15:14 hrs and its passengers were going up the FOB while passengers to board 63519 were hurriedly coming down causing hustle bustle on FOB landing.”
There are 3 FOBs at Barddhaman station and it is observed that Howrah- end FOB is normally not used by passengers as they have to walk few steps more.
