Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW) yesterday rolled out its 1,000th electric locomotive. A WAG-9 HC, named Sahastra, was flagged off by Anjali Goyal, General Manager of BLW on 22nd January 2022.
So far, BLW has produced 281 locomotives in the financial year 2021-22, according to data provided by the manufacturer. BLW started production of electric locomotives in the financial year 2016-17. Manufacturing ramped up to 25 units in 2017-18, 145 in 2018-19, 272 in 2019-20 and 275 in 2020-21.
The 1000th locomotive, WAG-9 HC 41379, is destined for Khanalampura locomotive shed near Saharanpur.
