Central Railways and State Government of Maharashtra have linked the UTS Mobile App and Universal Pass.
Anil Kumar Lahoti, General Manager, Central Railway said that the linking of UTS Mobile App and Universal Pass will enable passengers to get their tickets seamlessly without any hassle. Any person who has received both doses of vaccine and 14 days have lapsed since the administration of the last dose who wishes to travel had to take the State Government’s UNIVERSAL PASS which was issued after due verification of vaccination status by the State Governments portal.
Passengers had to produce UNIVERSAL PASS at the ticket counter to purchase the ticket. Now the state Governments portal issuing UNIVERSAL PASS has been linked to the Railways UTS Mobile App wherein the above mentioned category of passengers can buy a ticket without going to the counter. Through this App both Journey and Season ticket can be issued. Renewal of season tickets is also possible. There is no need for passengers to go to the counters to buy tickets. This facility will be available on Android Google Play Store and Apple App Store from 24.11.2021
Those passengers who have already downloaded UTS Mobile App in the past will have to update the App for activation of this new utility. During the pandemic UTS mobile App was suspended as there was no system of verification of the vaccination status of passengers. Now the UTS App will be opened for the public with proper vaccination verification made possible by linking of State Government portal and Railways UTS Mobile App.
This new application is a standalone example where the Railway server is handshaking with an external server for validation of tickets. The linking of the UNIVERSAL PASS portal and UTS mobile App has been a joint effort of the State Government of Maharashtra, CRIS and Central Railway.
