Central Railway’s freight loading from April to October 2021 is the Best and Highest ever during April to October.
During the period from April to October 2021, Central Railway loaded 41.02 million tonnes as against 31.46 million tonnes during the same period last financial year i.e. 2020-21 registering an increase of 30.4%.
Central Railway’s freight loading in October- 2021 is also the best ever in any October loading. Central Railway loaded 6.17 million tonnes of freight in October- 2021.
Central Railway transported 6.17 million tonnes of freight in October- 2021, as against 5.75 million tonnes in October- 2020 registering an increase of 7.5%.
Shri Anil Kumar Lahoti, General Manager, Central Railway said that Central Railway has surpassed the loading target of 6.09 million tonnes this month. This higher freight loading is mainly attributed to initiatives taken by Business Development Units (BDUs) set up by Central Railway at Zonal and Divisional level. He also said that freight transportation by rail is the safest, quickest and environment friendly option available for customers and Central Railway is exploring all possible ways to boost the freight loading performance.
Thanks to Business Development Units (BDUs), freight traffic is steadily increasing. Loading of Coal from Rajur, Nagpur has resumed after a gap of 9 years, Molasses have been loaded from Belapur, Solapur for the first time in 6 years. Export traffic of cotton for Bangladesh from Nagpur and galvanized steel from Jindal, Vasind via Mumbai Port Trust has begun.
Coal loading from Nagpur has increased from 758 rakes in Oct-2020 to 864 rakes in Oct-2021 i.e 106 more rakes have been loaded. Besides 3 rakes of Fly ash and 2 rakes of Dolomite have also been loaded from Nagpur.
Pune Division has topped in automobile loading on NMG rakes having loaded 33 rakes out of the total loading of 45 rakes on Central Railway.
This increase in loading has increased the freight revenue to 584.2 crores in Oct-2021 from 483.6 crores in the corresponding month last year registering an increase of 100.4 crores which is 20.4 %
