Central Railway in its endeavour to provide better services to bonafide rail users and also to curb the ticketless travel, has regularly conducted intensive campaign against ticketless and irregular travel.. Senior Officers are closely monitoring the revenue loss due to ticketless travel and such other irregularities.
During the month of August-2019, Central Railway has earned Rs 13.45 crore as against Rs 11.28 crore in August -2018, an increase of 19.23%.
During the month of August-2019, 2.72 lakh cases of ticketless/irregular travel including un-booked luggage were detected as against 2.53 lakh cases in August -2018, an increase of 7.50%.
During the period April to August -2019 a total of 17.29 lakh cases of ticketless/irregular travel and un-booked luggage were detected as against 15.70 lakh cases in the corresponding period last year thereby showing an increase of 10.12%.
The earnings realized from such ticketless/irregular travel registered Rs.92.19 crore in the period April to August –2019 as compared to earnings of Rs.80.35 crore registered during the corresponding period last year showing an increase of 14.74%.
During the month of August -2019, 251 cases of transfer of reserved journey tickets were detected and Rs 2.25 lakh recovered as penalty.
This campaign also included a special drive all over Central Railway from 21st to 30th August against touting activities and other malpractices by unscrupulous elements. Four Touts operating in Mumbai & Bhusaval Divisions were appended. Besides 3 cases of fake Ticket Examiners and 4 cases of fake Police Personnel were also caught at Mumbai and Pune Divisions.
A total of 79,006 cases of ticketless/irregular travel and un-booked luggage were detected and an amount of Rs.3.58 crore were recovered in this special drive.
Central Railway appeals to the passengers to travel with proper and valid railway tickets in order to avoid inconvenience and travel with dignity.
