CR loads 70,374 wagons of freight in 1,415 rakes during last one month
About 75 rakes are being handled at various terminals for loading/unloading daily from Mumbai, Nagpur, Bhusaval, Solapur and Pune divisions of Central Railway, including essential commodities like food grains, coal for power generation and other items like cement. Railway staff at various good sheds, stations and control offices who are working on 24/7 basis have made it possible to load 70,374 wagons of essential commodities in 1,415 rakes from 23.3.2020 to 22.4.2020.
Food grains in 252 wagons, Sugar in 484 wagons, Coal in 34,497 wagons, Container in 25,380 wagons, Petroleum products in 5,183 wagons, Fertilizer in 1,802 wagons, steel in 635 wagons, De-oiled cake in 252 wagons, Cement in 117 wagons and miscellaneous commodities in 1,772 wagons were loaded on its Mumbai, Nagpur, Bhusaval, Solapur and Pune Divisions.
Along with this, about 220 timetabled parcel trains are being operated, in which essential items like medicines, vegetables, perishable items, postal bags etc. are being transported across the country. More than 2000 tonnes of essential commodities were carried till 21.4.2020 by Central Railway which include medicine, medical equipments, fruits, vegetables, eggs, jute seeds, postal bags and raw material.
