CR: Rail, Sleeper Replacement, OHE Works Part of Maintenance Works Carried Out on Mainline and Harbour Line

Maintenance works carried out in Sunday mega block

Central Railway Mumbai Division corona warriors carried out maintenance work during mega block on Up and Down slow lines of main line between Sandhurst Road and Vidyavihar stations & Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus -Chunabhatti Up & Dn harbour lines on 09.08.2020. More than 650 corona warriors carried out the following works.

Engineering

Replacement / removal of rail panels of 1.5 track km length along with welding of 9 rails and gas cutting of 62 released rails; Replacement of 28 crossing sleepers on Currey Road – Parel section; Dadar – Matunga section and Matunga – Sion sections; Replacement of tongue rail at 2 places; Attention to 34 places by USFD machine. Muck removal work was also carried out in the Dadar – Matunga section by corona warriors of the Engineering department. In addition, a redundant portal boom of 32.5 meter was removed at CSMT suburban yard.

OHE works

Annual overhauling and close inspection of OHE for a length of 2.7 track km on the Sandhurst Road – Vidyavihar section slow lines and CSMT-Kurla section on the Harbour line. 715 meters of contact wires were replaced along with replacement of 3 insulators; replacement and removal of switch jumper wires and excess jumpers along with removal of portals and masts; provision of insulation paint under Road Over Bridge; disconnection, reconnection and provision for 107 bonding; tree trimming and cutting work were also undertaken at 10 places. All these works carried out with one crane special, three Tower Wagons, three ladder gangs and one trolley ladder gang.

S&T Works

Maintenance work on Digital Axle Counter (DAC) sensors and Location boxes at Mazgaon and Parel; Work of drilling of holes, fitting of bonds, track lead wires, refitting of DAC sensors, track magnets and point maintenance at Byculla, Parel, Dadar; conversion of HT crossing to CMS crossing on point at Dadar, provision of continuity jumpers and cleaning of sulphation on terminal points at Dadar; replacement of track lead wires, point motors and cleaning, testing and maintenance of points at Kurla. In addition, work of replacement and tuning of track circuits, recording of DAC track parameters were also done by Signal and Telecommunication warriors.
