Cyclone Dana, a powerful storm brewing in the Bay of Bengal, is expected to make landfall today in Orissa between Puri and Paradeep areas on the evening of Thursday, 24th October. The Indian Railways has announced the cancellation of several express and mail trains as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of passengers and railway infrastructure.
Heavy rainfall and strong winds associated with the cyclone are expected to cause flooding and landslides in many parts of the region, making it difficult for trains to operate safely. Railways officials have advised passengers to check the latest updates on train cancellations and rescheduling before planning their journeys. The Railways has also activated its emergency response teams to monitor the situation and set up helplines to provide assistance to stranded passengers.
South Eastern Railways has announced cancellation of the following trains for journeys commencing on 24th and 25th October. Confirmed ticket holders will be able to get full refunds for these.
