A new DEMU service between Pune and Phaltan was flagged off by Union Minister Prakash Javadekar via video conferencing today.
The service is aimed at improving connectivity between Pune and the Phaltan region, especially for students and regular office-goers from the area. While today’s flagging off from Phaltan was an inaugural special run, regular DEMU service will start from 31st March 2021.
Of those expected to be present for the flagging off ceremony, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra state assembly Devendra Fadnavis could not make it to the ceremony.
