East Central Railway has completed doubling of the 18 km Manpur-Wazirganj section of the 124-km Kiul Gaya line.
On December 19 the double line section received CRS sanction to run trains post a speed trial.
Electronic Interlocking (signalling) works in the section was completed on December 22 with four stations Manpur, Karjara, Paimar and Wazirganj under this system.
The next day, the first train numbered 53404 Gaya Jamalpur passenger ran on the doubled section.
Doubling of the Kiul -Gaya line was approved in FY16 and IR’s PSU IRCON was entrusted with this task. The estimated cost of doubling is Rs 1235 crore and the project is likely to be completed by 2020.
The line has 32 major and 304 minor bridges. The doubling works are divided into four sections namely Manpur -Wazirganj (18.15 km), Lakhisarai-Karauta-Patnair-Sirari-Sheikhpura (25.62 km), Tilaiya-Wazirganj (18.01 km) and Sheikhpura-Tilaiya(61.32 km).
Paimar is connected to Bandhua on the Manpur-Gomoh section of the grand chord line via a bypass line which was electrified in February 2019.
New Yards are also being constructed at several stations along the Kiul -Gaya line. They are Paimar, Nawada, Sirari, Wazirganj, Karjara, Karauta Patner, Kashichak, Sheikhpura, Warisaliganj and Manpur.
Manpur Electronic Interlocking Features
The electronic interlocking at Manpur has 84 routes with the completion of doubling in the Kiul-Gaya section. It includes commissioning of: double line universal failsafe block interface ( D/L UFSBI with media diversity- 3 nos), single line universal failsafe block interface (S/L UFSBI with media diversity- 1no), High Availability Single Section Digital Axle Counter (HASSDAC with media diversity -6 nos), Independent Power supply (IPS -2 nos), 1024 input data logger- (01 no), interlocking of turnout- 31 points (18 crossovers).three new crossovers added.
