East Central Railway has completed several projects this year. These include new lines, doubling of single line sections gauge conversions besides signaling upgrades since April 2019 to date. Details of these projects are as follows:
New Lines
21 km section between Islampur and Natesar of the 46 km Rajgir-Hisua-Tilaiya new line has been completed. The investment for this line is Rs 726 crore.
30 km of the Ghoswar-Vaishali section – a part of 148-km new rail line between Hajipur and Sugauli- is nearing completion. Total investment for this new line is Rs 2066 crore.
Doubling
A total of 98 km of single line sections were doubled.
The remaining portion of 47.7 km Hajipur-Ramdayalunagar doubling between Kurhni-Bhagwanpur-Ghoswar (28 km) has been commissioned for traffic. The project cost is Rs 367 crore.
20-km section between Bachwara-Mohiuddinnagar of the Rs 672 crore 72 km Hajipur-Bachwara doubling project has been completed.
The 10-km Samastipur -Kishanpur section of the 37-km Rs 491 crore Samastipur Darbhanga doubling project has been completed.
To ensure uninterrupted supply of coal to NTPC’s Barh Thermal Power Plant a 14-km third line between Bakhtiyarpur link cabin and Barh has been completed. The Rs 237 crore project also consists of a rail-over-rail bridge at Bakhtiyarpur besides a surface triangle.
7-km Dudhinagar-Jharkos section of the Rs 2436 crore 160-km Ramna-Singrauli doubling project has been completed.
12-km Ramna-Meralgram section of the Rs 348 crore 32.78 -km Garhwa Road -Ramna doubling project has been completed.
7-km of the Gomia-Dumri Bihar section of the Rs 332 crore Jarangdih-Dania doubling project has been completed.
Since April 2019 to date, gauge conversion of 47 route kilometers has been completed. This includes a portion of the Rs 1475 crore, 206 km long Sakri-Jhanjharpurpur -Nirmali and Saharsa-Forbesganj projects in North East Bihar.
The sections converted include Sakri-Mandan-Mishra Halt (11km), Mandan Mishra-Jhanjahrpur (16 km), and Garhbaruari-Supaul (11km). In addition, the gauge conversion of Supaul -Saraigarh (24 km) section is nearing completion. This includes a major bridge over the Kosi River.
Electrification
ECR electrified 230 route km of track from April 2019 to date. The sections electrified include Koderma-Rema (55 km) at Rs 92.95 crore, Rema-Maheshmunda (51 km) at Rs 86.34 crore, Samastipur-Khagaria (84 km) at Rs 115.75 crore besides Chopan-Karaila(40 km) at Rs 37.60 crore.
Signalling upgrades
ECR completed a route-relay interlocking cabin at Danapur, panel interlocking at seven stations namely Pradhankhunta,Kumarbagh, New Giridih, Sonardih, Jethian, Bansjoda and Sarsa jamalpur besides electronic interlocking at 37 stations.
Platform works
A new platform was constructed at Danapur while the height of platforms at four stations- Darbhanga, Barka Kana, Paharpur and Singrauli were raised. In addition, platforms at Jamui, Barhiya, Darbhanga and Bairgania were extended.
