East Central Railway has restarted infrastructure and maintenance work after the partial relaxation of the lockdown from April 20.
This is being done as per the guidelines of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. All these works are being done by limited workforce and compliance of social distance is also being ensured.
Sakri-Nirmali gauge conversion is an important rail project in North Bihar. Girder launching and concrete work is underway on railway bridge number 133 and 145 under construction between Sakri-Nirmali railway line.
Similarly, construction of level crossing gate, soil related work and blanketing work between Tamuria and Ghogardiha has been started.
Construction has been completed of Sakri-Mandan Mishra Halt (11 km), Mandan Mishra-Jhanjharpur (16 km) and Garhbaruari-Supaul (11 km) sections of the 1,475 crore Sakri-Jhanjharpur-Nirmali and Saharsa-Farbisganj (206 km) project. Besides, Supaul-Saraigad (24 km) gauge conversion work of this project has also been completed.
Similarly, earthwork, blanketing and bridge construction work has also been started between Sathuli-Narkatiaganj (60 km) doubling project between Sathi-Narkatiaganj, Chamua-Harinagar and Sagauli-Majhaulia. The project is a part of the 110 km long Sugauli-Balmikinagar doubling main project.
Approval of the project was granted in the year 2016-17 at an estimated cost of Rs 1216 crore. Be aware that the foundation stone of this project was laid on April 10, 2018 by Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
The development of the eastern regions of the country by the year 2022 is important for achieving the “New India Vision” of the Honorable Prime Minister. Being adjacent to Nepal, it is also a very important project from the standpoint of better connectivity.
Regular thermal screening of workers coming to work by East Central Rail is being done and social distance is being maintained. Also, masks, liquid handwashes, sanitizers etc. have been provided for the workers.
