Yelahanka-Makalidurga (36km) doubling including electrification got commissioned yesterday (24.02.2021). It is a part of Yelahanka- Penukonda doubling project. With this, South Western Railway Construction unit has completed commissioning of 173 km of railway lines (49km new line+124km doubling) so far during the current year.
The speed trial and inspection of newly electrified Railway line between Yelahanka – Makalidurga sections by Abhai Kumar Rai, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), Southern Circle accompanied by Ashok Kumar Verma, Divisional Railway manager, Bengaluru Division,K.C. Swami, Chief Administrative Officer, and other officers of Construction completed on 08.01.2021.
Later, the construction wing of South Western Railway carried out other works expeditiously and made the commissioning possible in very short time.
Ajay Kumar Singh, General Manager, South Western Railway has appreciated the meticulous planning, close co-ordination and dedicated team effort of the construction wing of South Western Railway in successful commissioning of the electrified double line.
The GM said that the zone is achieving remarkable progress in important works that augment Network infrastructure . He said that mobility will improve significantly on this doubled section on which many important trains run along with Rajdhani He said that because of ghat section near Makalidurga trains take time to clear the section and trains in other direction has to wait for clearance
The total distance between Yelahanka – Makalidurga is 34 Route Kilometres (RKM). The section includes Yelahanka, Rajanukumte, Doddaballapur Oddarahalli and Makalidurga Railway Stations.
There was single line from Yelahanka to Dharmavaram. The line between Yelahanka-Makalidurga is the first electrified double line section opened for traffic on this route. This will enhance the line capacity and improve speed and punctuality of trains in the section.
