The sectional speed of Daund-Solapur section in the Solapur division of Central Railway has been increased from the existing 105 kmph to 110 kmph with immediate effect.
The length of this section is 187 km of which about one third is a double line section. Doubling and electrification is rapidly progressing in the remaining two-thirds of this section.
With this, trains are likely to be speeded up marginally between Daund and Solapur leading to better capacity utilisation.
The doubling and electrification of this section is important as it is a part of the golden quadrilateral connecting the four major cities of India – Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai.
