Officials from the key port of Krishnapatnam have assured at least 20% higher freight loading for Indian Railways in the second half of the financial year 2020-21. Kakinada port representatives have also expressed confidence that they will achieve loading at par with the last financial year.

These commitments were made at one of various meetings with representatives from many sectors by the Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, South Central Railway.

Similar views came forth from representatives of the power sector. They expect coal requirement is expected to grow in the second half of this financial year.

Foodgrain loading has increased from 2 million tons last year to 4 million tons for the same period. Food and Civil Supplies representatives at one such meeting have asked SCR to find additional warehouse space. They expect loading to continue to remain robust for the rest of the financial year.

The GM assured support to the various sectors by ensuring the availability of adequate rolling stock and warehousing facilities where needed, says a statement released by South Central Railway.
