Starting Sunday, November 28, goods train operations have commenced on the newly gauge converted Botad-Ahmedabad section of Western Railway.
This was announced by the Union Minister of State for Railways &Textiles Darshana Jardosh on Twitter.

Gauge conversion of Ahmedabad-Botad was taken up at a cost of Rs 567 crore. The 170-km section provides the shortest distance between these two locations even though a circuitous broad gauge route is available via Surendranagar.
This route provides a shorter distance for goods trains to access Pipavav Port. Moreover, it also besides decongests the broad gauge line between Ahmedabad- Botad via Surendranagar.

Prior to gauge conversion, seven pairs of metre gauge passenger services ran between Ahmedabad and Botad.
When the passenger train will start on newly constructed botad sabarmati broad gauge route?
