RCF built First Ever High Capacity LHB Parcel Van capable to run at 130 kmph & 24 Ton Total Carrying Capacity launched
RCF built first-ever High Capacity LHB Parcel Van capable to run at 130 kmph & 24 Ton total carrying capacity was introduced in New Delhi today.

Purnendu.S.Mishra inspected this High Capacity Parcel Van build on LHB platform at Delhi Safdarjung Railway station in presence of Shri Ravinder Gupta, General Manager, Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala. Shri R K Mangla, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer /RCF, Sh. Nitin Choudhary Chief Quality Manager/RCF and other Senior Railway Officers were also present on the occasion.
Designed and Manufactured by Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala, this is the first-ever High Capacity Parcel Van on LHB platform. It has successfully completed oscillation trials and has been issued with speed certificate by RDSO for 130 Kmph.
LHB Parcel Van has a total carrying capacity of 24 ton and total volume of 187 m3. To facilitate transportation of wide goods, foldable 2-tier luggage racks have been provided. These coaches have three collapsible partitions and four number of sliding doors.
There are 32 foldable 2 tier luggage racks for efficient staking of small parcels in the van.
The coach has complete stainless steel interior paneling and fitted with 140 KN air suspension. It is also equipped with axle-mounted disc brakes and anti-climbing CBC coupler with transition screw coupling. The coach shall have fire balls inside to douse any fire inside.
The LHB parcel vans have been provided with flushed-in type fire retardant LED lights. This coach is HOG compliant with both end connectivity. This coach can be attached at any position in the rake.
The LHB parcel van will generate revenue for Indian Railway through Parcel transportation business.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh Ravinder Gupta, GM said that this is the first coach which has been conceived, designed, manufactured and launched within a year. RCF is in the process to manufacture about 100 such Parcel Vans during the current fiscal.
Further, RCF is in process of development of E-commerce Parcel Van with a volume capacity 210 m3 and speed potential of 160 Kmph. The coach will be equipped with a load cell to indicate payload and GPS tracker.
