IR has decided to shift its project offices at Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad and New Jalpaiguri as part of its reorganization exercise. Effective April 2019, these three project offices will be relocated to Bengaluru, Chennai and Guwahati respectively.
This will be done by merging and transferring of its Chief Project Director (CPD) jurisdiction of Railway Electrification (RE) units in different parts of the country.
Re-organisation happens when electrification projects are completed in a particular region necessitating shift to regions where electrification has to be done and is based on administrative and technical viability.
The RE office at Bhubaneswar has been shifted to Bangalore for its new assigned works in Karnataka as electrification works in East Coast Railway have been completed.
For new works, such as new lines and doubling, the executing agencies such as Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), Indian Railways Construction Company Limited (IRCON), ECoR Construction Organization, will do electrification simultaneously.
The works assigned to RE/Bhubaneswar for electrification of Azimganj-New Farakka line in Bengal have been shifted to Danapur in Bihar for better monitoring.
Similarly, the assigned works for RE/Secunderabad have been shifted to RE/Chennai for better monitoring of ongoing works. Apart from this, RE establishment at New Jalpaiguri has been shifted to Guwahati.
CORE has earlier relocated its offices in Ranchi, Mathura and Kota after project completion. Officers who join CORE on deputation are usually returned to their parent cadre.
