To improve rail connectivity in Maharashtra, Indian Railways (IR) plans to connect Nashik on Central Railway and Dahanu on Western Railway.
IR has sanctioned the final location survey of a 100 -km new rail line between Nashik and Vangaon via Trimbakeshwar at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore.
The rail line from Nashik to Dahanu via Trimbakeshwar and Vangaon will provide a rail link to one of the 12 Jyotirlingas at Trimbakeshwar and to Panchavati (place where Lord Rama stayed during his exile) in Nashik.
