Indian Railways (IR) will produce 2380 locomotive in the next couple of years. According to the revised locomotive production programme approved by the Railway Board, the focus will be on producing WAG9H class of goods locomotives.
The revised programme both production unit wise and loco type wise is as follows:-

CLW is Chittaranjan Locomotive Works, BLW is Banaras Locomotive Works and PLW is Patiala Locomotive Works. WAP7 loco is used to haul passenger and mail/express trains while WAG9H loco is used to haul goods trains.
JUST NO RATIONALE IN SUCH HIGH NUMBER OF LOCOMOTIVES. ONLY IF A ROLLING STOCK CORPORATION IS FORMED , A REALISTIC NUMBER IF LOCOMOTIVES WILL COME OUT . PLUS ONE LAKH STAFF WILL BE OFF RAILWAY ROLLS AND CAN DELIVER IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER.
