Fifteen bogies of two goods trains derailed between Khalari and Ray stations in the Dhanbad – Garhwa Road section on East Central Railway’s (ECR) Dhanbad division.
The accident happened during the early hours of Tuesday sources said, adding that the goods train consisting of BOXN wagons hauled by WDG4 loco belonging to Patratu loco shed of ECR passed Khalari station at 0150 hours.
It derailed between Khalari and Ray stations at 0155 hours with a few derailed wagons coming down on the UP track. Meanwhile another goods train which left Ray station at 0150 hours was coming on the up line. It dashed against the derailed BOXN wagons derailing the twin WAG -5 locos belonging to the Tughlakabad loco shed along with wagons. The driver of the UP goods sustained minor injuries and was treated at Khalari.
An official statement from ECR on the derailment is awaited. The matter is under investigation by railway authorities.
