Konkan Railway has decided to undertake infrastructure upgradation works at Goregaon Road station between Mangaon – Veer section in Ratnagiri region over Konkan Railway from 15/03/2022 to 18/03/2022, the repercussion to Train services are as under:
Regulation of Trains:
- Train no. 20932 Indore Jn. – Kochuveli Express journey commences on 15/03/2022 will be regulated at Mangaon for 10 minutes on 16/03/2022.
- Train no. 12224 Ernakulam Jn. – Lokmanya Tilak (T) Express journey commences on 16/03/2022 will be regulated between Ratnagiri – Veer section for 60 minutes on 17/03/2022.
- Train no. 16346 Thiruvananthapuram Central – Lokmanya Tilak (T) Express journey commences on 17/03/2022 will be regulated between Udupi – Veer section for 180 minutes on 18/03/2022.
Rescheduling of Trains :
- Train no. 11086 Madgaon Jn. – Lokmanya Tilak (T) Express journey commences on 18/03/2022 will be rescheduled to leave ex. Madgaon Jn. at 07:00 hrs i.e. 60 minutes late.
Konkan railway has much potential for earning higher revenue provided the railway ministry change the mind set. For the speedy movement of the freight and people from the deep south to the northern states have been hampered on account of the step-motherly treatment accorded to this prestigious route connecting the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala with the Northern states. The regional development of Konkan plus the tourism potential of Goa, Karnataka and Kerala can be tapped and the time saving journey can happen to the visitors to and from the region. Travelling time can be curtailed and it will open up avenues for introducing new trains. Long distance super fast trains are currently side tracked to give way for the freight trains! India’s largest deep water natural port is under construction at Vizhinjam in Kerala. After commissioning of this port, India will need a west cost dedicated freight corridor for the speedy movement of the freight.
When survey is underway for the construction of coastal Express Way between Mumbai and Goa, it is pathetic to see, this much deserved status was taken away from the Konkan railway on account of the negligence of the Officials.
I hope and trust Konkan railway will be accorded with the respect it commands.
