Railway Board Member (Operations and Business Development) Sanjay Kumar Mohanty today reviewed the performance of East Coast Railway with respect to operations and business development.
To improve the freight traffic, Shri Mohanty stressed upon joint cooperation and mutual understanding between various agencies of the Central and State Governments and with Industries, Ports & Corporate agencies. This will benefit various Stake Holders and Railways.
He stressed on increasing line capacity and speeding up of doubling and tripling projects. He spoke on to speed up Business Development Units (BDUs) activities to bring Railways closer to industry and trade in order to increase Railway’s share in the transportation.
To attract new Traffic, Shri Mohanty advised officials to interact frequently with trade and industries to know about the existing transportation patterns and also to attract more traffic to Railways. Apart from this, Business Development Units (BDUs) should explore ways to increase miscellaneous non-bulk goods traffic, along with strengthening Railway’s share in traditional commodities being carried at present. Any proposal received, shall be promptly analyzed and developed and immediate assistance should be taken, if required.
