Lalit Chandra Trivedi, General Manager, East Central Railway (ECR), on Wednesday, inspected the infrastructure upgradation works being carried out on the 417-km stretch between Pradhan Khunta and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Jn (DDU in short) on ECR.
The stretch falls under two divisions of ECR – Dhanbad and DDU. Of this, the stretch between Pradhan Khunta and Manpur falls under Dhanbad division while the stretch between Manpur and DDU falls under DDU division.
A number of improvements are to be done especially relating to railway tracks, bridges, signaling system and overhead equipment (OHE) to enable increase in the maximum permissible speed on the section between Pradhan Khunta and DDU to 160 kmph.
The GM reviewed all works being done to increase the speed limit. During the infrastructure upgradation works, provision of earthworks, ballasts, thick web switches are being made.
In addition, yard remodeling , electronic interlocking besides the European Train Control System (ETCS) standards will be implemented.
As on date, the section MPS on ECR between Pradhan Khunta and DDU is 130 kmph. Works related to tracks, bridges, signalling systems, done at a rapid pace.
The GM was accompanied by the Principal Chief Engineer K D Ralh, Principal Chief Signal & Telecommunications Engineer Rajesh Kumar Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) DDU Rajesh Kumar Pandey and DRM Dhanbad Ashish Bansal and other senior officials.
