In spite of Covid-19 crisis many important works for improvement in passenger services completed on North Central Railway
During the current phase of Covid-19 Pandemic, North Central Railway has taken holistic approach towards improvement in passenger amenities at stations and in trains.
Besides implementing innovative QR code based Contactless Ticket Checking system at Prayagraj Jn. and first ever deployment of Mobile UTS during Magh Mela-2020; North Central Railway, so far has provided 86 Jan Sadharan Ticket Booking Seva (JTBS) agents, unreserved ticketing system (UTS)counters at 310 stations, UTS cum PRS service at 64 stations, 05 PRS centers in post offices; station ticket booking agents at 139 E category stations, 147 automatic ticket vending machines(ATVM) at 55 stations, Yatri Ticket Suvidha Kendra in Mahoba area etc. for ease of reserved and non reserved ticketing to passengers.
For enhanced passenger security 4 more stations of NCR have been brought under CCTV surveillance and new CCTV control rooms commissioned at Kanpur Central and Agra Fort Stations. Passenger announcement system is now available at 67 station of North Central Railway. So far North Central Railway has installed 30 escalators and 21 lifts at various important stations and during the ongoing financial year 8 more escalators and 12 more lifts are planned for commissioning. For seamless digital experience Wi-Fi facility has now been extended to 202 stations over North Central Railway.
To meet essential travel need, Howrah- Gwalior Chambal express has been extended to Agra Cantt. and Indore-Khajuraho express has been extended to Prayagraj and Dr. Ambedkarnagar stations on either side with effect from restoration of these trains. During the year 2020-21 Aghori Khas and Sarsoki stations have been provided with divyang toilets. Up till now, NCR has provided 90 water vending machines at various stations of the zone and this facility is being extended to other stations by installing 59 additional machines.
Removing bottlenecks in operational capacity has always been a focus area on North Central Railway for punctual and detention free running of passenger trains and with relentless effort of strong team of 60000 railway men and women NCR converted the current phase of distress into opportunity. With requisite inputs to P-way and other assets sectional speed on Ghaziabad- Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya and Palwal-Lalitpur sections has been enhanced to 130 Kmph. Sectional speed limits of Lalitpur-Bina and Manikpur-Link Jn. sections have also been raised to 120 Kmph and 110 Kmph respectively. This will greatly help in enhancing mobility in these sections. Further 2 permanent speed restrictions over Prayagraj division have also been relaxed for improved mobility of trains. Important yard remodeling works have been completed at Kanpur and Govindpuri stations to enable smooth and detention free movement of trains over North Central railway Network.
Amid Covid-19, ensuring safe and hassle free travel experience to our valued passengers has been a prime concern on NCR. Besides creating awareness among passengers on Covid-19, thermal screening of all passengers is being done along with sanitisation of luggage for each passenger. Rolling stock maintenance teams are ensuring that all rakes utilized for special train services are intensively sanitized and laid down safety checks are being done to ensure safety of passengers travelling in it. As a result of HOG conversion of all 16 LHB rakes of NCR, 75000 lts. HSD is being saved annually beside reduced sound and air pollution in platform area of stations.
