North Central Railway (NCR) as on December 8, 2020, loaded 10.54 million tonnes freight year to date – 1.9 lakhs tonnes more as compared to freight loaded in the same period of last financial year.
This improvement could be achieved due to an increase of 40 per cent in food grains loading and 5 per cent improvement in fertiliser loading over last year despite Covid-19 pandemic.
Steps taken to increase loading
NCR, to improve loading on its system, has improved its 17 goods sheds over the three divisions; finalisation of station to station rates allowing rebate upto 30 per cent for additional and new traffic stream of food grains from Etah, Kherali, Datia, Dabra, Rayaru, Lalitpur, and Mathura.
NCR has added new traffic of tractor loading at ICD Dadri besides loading of food grain in mini and half rakes and transporting food grain export traffic to Bangladesh.
Recent achievement include opening of Iradatganj for food grain loading after about 6 years, loading of 20 food grain rakes from in last one and a half months from Naini, loading of tractors in 100 NMG wagons from ICD dadri , adding new traffic – loading of food grains in 121 wagons at Pankidham.
Two mini rakes from Mathura bersides 1.5 lakh tonnes of food grains from Jhansi division saw NCR put up its best ever performance in carrying agricultural produce,
