Online Refresher and other safety related training for Running staff gets Railway Board nod
All three divisions and HQ office of North Central Railway equipped with e-office
In the beginning of lockdown all mandatory and optional training programs had to be deferred to maintain requisite social distancing protocol etc. however realizing the need of prolonged social distancing protocols even after lockdown period it was necessary to organize training programs using online methods so as frontline staff is equipped with latest knowledge for safe and efficient train operation.
Now Railway board has formalized online conduct of refresher and other safety courses for running staff. North Central Railway has already made a headway in this direction and about 120 running staff from diesel and electric traction side are under structured online training.
With approval from Railway Board now formal evaluation of all trainees shall be done and further batches shall also be dealt in similar fashion till regular classroom training can be restored.
E-Office a digital workplace solution is a very important tool for discharge of official work with social distancing in true sense. With implementation of e-office in Prayagraj division now all three divisions i.e. Agra, Jhansi & Prayagraj and NCR HQ office are equipped with e-office working which will help immensely in social distancing besides ensuring efficient , transparent and paperless working .
NCR to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve reliability of signaling gear
NCR has been pioneer in use of technology in operation and maintenance. Latest effort in this direction is use of IOT and AI in field of signaling gear maintenance .
To equip our workforce with requisite knowledge on this still evolving field a web based seminar on IOT (internet of things) and AI (artificial intelligence) was organized over video conference. IOT senses data from field and communicates to the central location or cloud. AI processes this data and gives meaningful analysis for generating alerts and analysis.
This can help in accurate prediction of health and defects in signaling gear and failures can be avoided by timely attention. One trial system is already working since October 2019 at Vrindawan station of Agra division and so far it has performed satisfactorily.
Work for 05 more such systems in Prayagraj division and similar arrangement for Jhansi division are also in pipeline. This webinar was organized by Shri Niraj Yadav- Chief Signal Engg NCR along with experts from industry which was attended by 101 participants among S&T officers and supervisors from NCR. Shri Arun Kumar PCSTE NCR and Shri Pradeep Kumar- Member Signal and Telecom Railway Board also joined in this web-based seminar.
Sri Pradeep Kumar emphasized that with IOT and AI we should achieve reduction in signaling failures, improve the reliability of system.
