Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N.F. Railway conducted drives against anti-social elements in railway stations and trains and apprehended 72 persons involved in offences like luggage lifting pickpocketing and chain snatching etc. during the year 2019.
Moreover, 8 persons were also apprehended for involvement in crime against women. In addition, as many as 18 people were also apprehended and handed over to GRP for the drugging of the passenger during the train journey.
It may be mentioned here that recently RPF personnel of Katihar and CPDS (Crime Prevention & Detection Squad) team of RPF conducted drive at Katihar Railway Station on January 7, 2020, and apprehended 5 persons with recovery of stolen mobiles, Ativan tablets, blade, cash, knife, Aadhar cards etc from their unlawful possession.
The name of person apprehended are (1) Suraj Bisphor, age-27 years, S/o -Hariar Bisphor, Katihar, Bihar with recovery of 02 mobile phones, 01 Aadhar card, blades and 24 Ativan tablets and cash Rs-100/-; (2) Dhiraj Bisphor, age-32 years, S/o- Lt Lalji Bisphor, Katihar, Bihar with recovery of 01 mobile phone, 24 Ativan tablets, 01 Aadhar card, 01 knife and cash Rs-200/-; (3) Sunil Poddar, age-30 years, S/o- Lt R.P. Podar, Katihar, Bihar with recovery of 01 mobile phone; (4) Chhotu Kr. Sah, age-23years,S/o Sundar Sah, Katihar, Bihar with recovery of 01 Debit card, 01 Aadhar card, cash Rs-220/-, 26 Ativan tablets, blades and (5) Arup Moddak, age-35 years, S/o- Dipu Moddak, Siliguri, Darjeeling, (WB) with recovery of 02 mobile phones, Rs. 525/-.
In this connection, Sri Anoop Tiwari/SI lodged a written complaint and handed over all the accused with seized items to OC/GRP/KIR and a case was registered U/S 401/411/414/379/34 of IPC, 137/147 of Rly Act and 20/22 of NDPS Act against the accused persons.
