Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is likely to complete route electrification (RE) of Srirampur (Assam) – New Bongaigaon and Kamakhya – Guwahati sections by end August 2021.Works are in advanced stages of completion and electric loco trial is expected to be done by August.
A detailed discussion of the progress of these works was held by Anshul Gupta General Manager NFR with RVNL and CORE regarding action taken /to be taken for timely completion.
Works in New Bongaigaon – Jogigopa is completed and CRS inspection is awaited. Moreover, Kolaigram – Gumanihat (2nd line) section is targeted for completion by August, 2021; New Jalpaiguri – Siliguri and New Guwahati – Digaru – Jagiroad sections by September.
Electrification works between Jogighopa – Dudhnoi, Dudhnoi-Kamakhya, Jagiroad -Hojai, Chaparmukh -Silghat Town and Senchoa – Mairabari are in progress. They are expected to be completed by December 2021. RE works have commenced in Hojai – Lumding and Katihar – Purnia sections . They are in various stages of execution with targeted completion by March 2022.

Recently, CRS sanction was received for the Jalpaiguri Road – Y-leg section on June 30, 2021 and Betgara – Kolaigram section on July 1, 2021 for the second line along with doubling.
During March, 2021, CRS inspection for New Coochbehar – Srirampur (Assam), Bongaigaon – Rangiya and Rangiya – Kamakhya sections was done. NFR completed route electrification of 334 km in various sections between Raninagar-Jalpaiguri -Guwahati last fiscal (FY21).
