Work on the 4.8-kilometre Rohtak-Gohana railway line is almost complete and the line will be operational in three months, says Northern Railway.
A total of Rs. 315 crores was spent on the project by the Indian Railways and the state government.
Rohtak, an important city in Haryana, expanded around this railway line with the passage of time. The line became part of the congested centre of the city.
“This stretch had four railway gates within city limits which led to inconvenience to road users and operational issues for trains,” says General Manager of Northern Railway, Rajiv Chaudhary.
With the elevated section now nearing completion, all four gates have been removed. This will improve speeds and allow more trains to be run through the line, says a statement from Northern Railway.
A trial run was successfully conducted over the new elevated line recently.
