The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), Northern Circle has accorded sanction to conduct detailed Oscillation & Emergency Braking Distance (EBD) trials of the Alstom manufactured WAG-12B class of locomotives.
The trials will be subjected to maximum test speed of 100 & 110 kmph on Sanahwal – New Morinda section of Northern Railway.
The WAG-12 class of locomotives are being manufactured by Alstom at Madhepura Electric Locomotive Factory in Bihar. The locomotives will be put to use on Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC).
The WAG-12 was earlier reported to have issues. Alstom has later clarified that necessary modifications were in place. They also claimed that the Madhepura based factory is on track to deliver 10 sets to the Indian Railways this fiscal year.
