NFR to run parcel trains between Guwahati and Dibrugarh to facilitate transport of commodities in small quantity
Northeast Frontier Railway will be operating Parcel Express trains as per fixed Time Table timings towards Dibrugarh from Guwahati on 29th April and from Dibrugarh to Guwahati on 30th April to ensure transportation of essential goods in small quantity in the wake of COVID-19 to various parts of Assam.
Parcel express train towards Dibrugarh will leave from Guwahati at 09-20 am on 29.04.2020 with adequate stoppage time at Jagiroad, Chaparmukh, Hojai, Lumding Jn, Diphu, Dimapur, Sarupathar, Furkating Jn, Mariani Jn, Simaluguri Jn, Duliajan & New Tinsukia stations during its journey for loading / un-loading of items. During return journey, this special parcel train will start from Dibrugarh at 09-20 am on 30-04-2020 with stoppages at all nominated stations for loading / unloading of materials.

It may be mentioned here that earlier also NFR ran many parcel trains which carried essential goods and medical items to various parts of N.E. Regions. Northeast Frontier Railway has so far run more than 90 trips of Parcel Special Trains carrying materials like Milk & Milk products under various brands like Amul Taza etc., Medicine, Protective Masks, PPEs (Personal Protection Equipment), Sanitizers, various products of Nestle like Maggie noodles, baby foods etc. These trains were run like normal passenger trains with fixed departure/arrival time and date. Various e-commerce portals like Amazon and Central Governments like India Post Service has also availed this service to book their consignment to places like Kolkata and New Delhi.
Indian Railways has already made railway parcel vans available for quick mass transportation across the nation for the needy E – Commerce companies and other customers including State governments. Provision of Parcel trains and rapid transportation of goods will further bolster the efficiency of supply chains during the lock down period. This will help in movement of essential items viz. Dairy Products, Medical Equipments and Medicines, Groceries, Edible oil and other necessary items like baby food etc. in small quantities as well. SER Runs 369 Trips of Parcel Express during Lockdown
Indian Railways, aptly called the ‘Life Line of The Nation’ is fighting against the Coronavirus pandemic in different fields by adopting various measures including movement of Time Tabled Parcel Express Trains and Freight Trains for maintaining uninterrupted supply of essential commodities to every nook and corner of the country during nation-wide lockdown.
As a part of commitment to the nation, South Eastern Railway during this nationwide lockdown has already geared up its entire network to run Time Tabled Parcel Express Trains towards different destinations in the country.
South Eastern Railway, during this national crisis, has already run 369 trips of Parcel Express Trains from 2nd to 26th April, 2020 carrying essential commodities viz. food grains, medicines, medical equipments including PPEs, masks, sanitizer, coveralls & gloves, fish, egg, vegetables, grocery items, fruits, sugar,salt, betel leaves, fabrics, plastic goods, poly bundle, e-commerce items, machine parts, cotton goods etc. which amounts to 4,431.13 tonnes of parcel traffic containing 1,59,407 number of packages to different places in the country. These Parcel Express Trains will continue to run till 3rd May, 2020.
This challenging and robust task has come in reality with the proper planning and overwhelming responses from the dedicated workforce of frontline warriors of South Eastern Railway viz., loco pilots, guards, trackmen, station masters and other employees working at stations and divisional headquarters who are putting their exemplary services to the nation inspite of nationwide lockdown. This Railway is committed to run more freight and parcel trains for transportation of daily and essential items until the crisis situation in the country is over.
