Parcel Train Updates from SR and SWR

SR: Terminal Changed to Chennai Egmore for Trains For Work

Due to the demolition work of 9R Bridge ( Elephant Gate Bridge) between Dr MGR Chennai Central and Basin Bridge Railway Stations in Chennai Division, the terminals of the following parcel specials currently being operated from Dr MGR Chennai Central will be changed to Chennai Egmore Railway Station from 27th April 2020 till the completion of the work. The Timings of some of the Parcel Specials are also revised as detailed below:-

*Daily Trains*

Train No.00653 Chennai – Shoranur Daily Parcel Cargo Express Special Train leaving Dr MGR Chennai Central at 08.00 hrs daily will now leave from Chennai Egmore at 08.00 hrs daily with effect from 27th April 2020.

Similarly, Train No.00654 Shoranur – Chennai Daily Parcel Cargo Express Special Train arriving Dr MGR Chennai Central at 16.45 hrs daily will now arrive Chennai Egmore at 16.45 hrs daily

Train No.00646 Chennai – New Delhi Daily Parcel Cargo Express Special Train leaving Dr MGR Chennai Central at 18.00 hrs daily will now leave from Chennai Egmore at 18.00 hrs daily with effect from 27th April 2020.

Similarly, Train No.00647 New Delhi – Chennai Daily Parcel Cargo Express Special Train arriving Dr MGR Chennai Central at 05.00 hrs daily will now arrive Chennai Egmore at 05.30 hrs daily

Train No.00116 Chennai – Mumbai CST Daily Parcel Cargo Express Special Train leaving Dr MGR Chennai Central at 10.00 hrs daily will now leave from Chennai Egmore at 10.00 hrs daily with effect from 27th April 2020.  This train will arrive Renigunta at 13.15 hrs (instead of 13.00 hrs) and leave at 13.25 hrs (instead of 13.10 hrs)

Similarly, Train No.00115 Mumbai CST – Chennai Daily Parcel Cargo Express Special Train arriving Dr MGR Chennai Central at 18.35 hrs daily will now arrive Chennai Egmore at 19.00 hrs daily

Train No.00615 KSR Bengaluru – Howrah Daily Parcel Cargo Express Special Train via Chennai arriving Dr MGR Chennai Central at 19.30 hrs and leaving at 20.30 hrs daily will now arrive Chennai Egmore at 20.00 hrs daily and leave Chennai Egmore at 21.00 hrs with effect from 27th April 2020 upto 1st May 2020.  

Similarly, Train No.00616 Howrah – KSR Bengaluru Daily Parcel Cargo Express Special Train via Chennai arriving Dr MGR Chennai Central at 17.30 hrs and leaving at 18.30 hrs daily will now arrive Chennai Egmore at 18.00 hrs and leave at 19.00 hrs daily with effect from 26th April till 3rd May 2020.  

*Weekly Trains*

Train No.00618 Dimapur – KSR Bengaluru Parcel Cargo Express Special Train leaving Dimapur on 28th April will arrive Chennai Egmore at 07.00 hrs and leave at 08.10 hrs on 1st May 2020 (instead of arriving Dr MGR Chennai Central at 06.30 hrs and leaving at 07.30 hrs)

Train No.00608 Gorakhpur – KSR Bengaluru Weekly Parcel Cargo Express Special Train leaving Gorakphur on 29th April 2020 will arrive Chennai Egmore at14.00 hrs and leave at 15.00 hrs on 1st May 2020 (instead of arriving Dr MGR Chennai Central at 14.00 hrs and leaving at 14.30 hrs.)

SWR: PARCEL EXPRESS TRAIN BETWEEN BENGALURU & HUBBALLI

South Western Railway has decided to run Train No.00697 Bengaluru – Hubbalii Parcel Express Special train to transport essential commodities in view of COVID-19 as detailed below: –

Train No.00697 KSR Bengaluru – Hubballi Parcel Express Special will depart from KSR Bengaluru at 12:30 hrs on 26.04.2020(Sunday) and arrive Hubballi at 22:45 hrs on the same day (01 Trip).

The train will have commercial stoppages at Yesvantpur, Tumakuru, Tiptur, Arsikere, Kadur, Davangere, Harihar and Havari. Parcels can be loaded at all these stations. Loading of parcels will be permitted at other en-route stations also depending on the demand.

The train will have a composition of 5 parcel vans and 1 Luggage – cum- Brake van.

This parcel special is timetabled and has assured delivery time. No minimum limit of load or goods to be carried. Small consignments can also be transported.

e- Commerce companies, traders and Railway customers are requested to avail this facility by registering their demand and join Indian Railways with India’s fight against COVID-19.

DEMAND FOR PARCEL TRAINS PICKUP ON SWR

Indian Railways is running freight and parcel trains for nationwide transportation of essential commodities during the lockdown due to Covid-19.  After the extension of lockdown, time tabled Parcel trains have come to the rescue of the country to provide essential commodities, dairy products, and perishables in close coordination with State Governments.

This is the first time that time tabled Parcel trains are being run by SWR to different parts of the country wherein local industries, e-commerce companies, interested groups, individuals and prospective loaders can book parcels to their destinations. 

Local industries, e-commerce companies, interested groups, individuals and other prospective loaders have been invited by SWR to book parcels on these trains. Hon’ble Minister of Railway and Hon’ble MoSR have also generated awareness of timetable parcel trains through social media and other publicity.  National level coverage in media have also generated awareness about these trains and attracted potential customers.

Hubballi Division of SWR has run Time tabled Parcel train consisting of 4 Parcel vans, containing 75.26 Tonnes processed food like noodles from Goa to Diwana. In addition  1 Refrigerated Parcel Van and 1 SLR carrying 15.38 Tonnes of Nestle Chocolates were also loaded from Vasco da Gama to CWCNSL siding, Diwana, of Northern Railway.

SWR is committed to ensuring food and essential commodities to meet the requirements of citizens and Railway in view of Lockdown has made parcel van easily available for quick mass transportation to any part of the country.

All concerned and Government agencies, NGOs, traders can contact Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Bengaluru, Mysuru and Hubballi   to avail the service of parcel vans on South Western Railway.

South Western Railway ran three Parcel Express trains on 25.04.2020 containing 15 Parcel Vans including one Refrigerator Van from Bengaluru to Howrah (West Bengal) & Dimapur (Nagaland) and from Vasco da Gama (Goa) to Diwana (Haryana).

Refrigerator Van was loaded from Vasco da Gama to Diwana  containing Nestle Chocolates weighing 15.38 Tonnes (Kit Kat, Bar one, Milky Bar) handled by M/s AVG Logistics for a lead more than 2000 Kms.  Apart from this another 4 Parcel Vans containing processed food (75.26  Tonnes) to Diwana are also loaded.  

Four Parcel Vans containing Pigs to Dimapur, 19.3 Tonnes of Hatching Eggs, 3.8 Tonnes of fresh Vegetables & fruits, 4.4 Tonnes of courier goods 0.5 tonnes of medicine & medical goods and 1.00 T of other parcels are loaded to Guwahati and from Bengaluru & Yasvantpur.
