Private security guards can now travel to work and back on Mumbai’s local trains.
This follows the request of Govt of Maharashtra, (vide letter No. DMU 2020/ CR 92/ DM 1 dated 19.10.2020) to allow private guards.
With this Indian Railways has allowed private guards travelling with uniform may use the special suburban services in Mumbai.
They have to obtain QR code from the State Government at the earliest. Until such time, uniform with valid identity cards are authority for entry at the stations, IR said in a statement.
Additional booking counters will be opened at important railway stations for the passengers.
Since October 21, women passengers have been allowed to travel by local trains from 11 hours to 15 hours and after 19 hours.
