Railway Board Organises Virtual Meet For Retiring Railway Employees

The customary farewell functions organised every month end at the divisional level for honouring retiring railway employees were dropped since all types of physical gatherings were prohibited in adherence to COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures. The Railway Board has envisaged a centralised virtual meet on the last day of every month from July 2020 onwards to honour the retiring railway employees suitably covering all Zones/Divisions,  Production Units, Training Institutes and Workshops across Indian Railway network.

The first such virtual meet was held today(31st July 2020) at 17.00 hrs. Shri Piyush Goyal Hon’ble Minister of Railway(MR) and Shri Suresh Angadi Hon’ble Minister of State for Railway(MoSR) addressed the meet. Shri Piyush Goyal wished the retiring railway employees all the best while entering a new phase of their life, The hon’ble minister complemented them as true ‘COVID19 Warriors’ for contributions in managing to operate more freight trains and passenger special trains as per the requirement of the nation during Corona Crisis and simultaneously completing various pending asset maintenance works.

Railtel Ltd (a PSU of Indian Railways) hosted the meet on it’s IT platform. In view of the prevailing conditions apart from making office conference facilities available, employees were provided access to the meet on popular social media platforms and web-conference applications.
