A sum of Rs 809 crore will be spent on repair and rehabilitation of bridges on the Indian Railway (IR) network.
According to Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, a total of 4168 bridges on IR were sanctioned for repair/rehabilitation/strengthening during the fiscal FY20.
Responding to a Parliament question, Goyal stated that all the bridges were inspected twice a year, one before the onset of monsoon and once after the monsoon.
As on April 1, 2019, there were 1,50,746 bridges on IR, he added.
