Satish Kumar, presently working as Member (Traction & Rolling Stock) Railway Board will take over as the new Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Railway Board effective September 1, 2024. He succeeds Jaya Verma Sinha who retires on August 31, 2024.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, in a note dated August 27, 2024, said that he has been appointed to the position till the date of his superannuation and subsequent re-employment effective January 1, 2025 until August 31, 2025.
Prior to this, he was General Manager North Central Railway from November 2022 to January 2024. Earlier, he was Senior Deputy General Manager & Chief Vigilance Officer on North Western Railway Jaipur and Divisional Railway Manager Lucknow, Northern Railway.
A 1986 batch officer of Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers, he joined Indian Railways in March, 1988. He is a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from MNIT Jaipur and a PG Diploma in Operation Management and PGCCL (Cyber Law) from IGNOU.
