The 72nd Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) Meeting was held under the chairmanship of Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, South Central Railway today i.e. 7th November, 2019 at Rail Kalarang, Secunderabad.
Fifty Six(56) ZRUCC Members including nominated by State Govts., elected members from DRUCC (Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee) of six Divisions, Public Sector Undertaking, Principal Chamber of Commerce & Trade Associations, Registered Passengers Association, nominees of Hon’ble Minister of Railways under special interest category participated in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager informed that South Central Railwayis according highest priority for safety, the zone has eliminated all the unmanned level crossings and now focusing on elimination of the manned level crossingsin a phased manner to safety and speedup the train operations.
He also informed that, the railways is committed to provide the best in providing passenger amenities including lifts, escalators, foot over bridges, wi-fi facilities etc., SCR is running special trains for pilgrims Sabarimala, Sankranti, Dussehra and Diwali festivals etc. In order to ensure high quality passenger amenities, 68 stations have been developed as Adarsh Stations. The General Manager also informed that Six Major Stations in the zone including Secunderabad and Vijayawada railway stations have been selected under station redevelopment program.the zone has taken several green initiatives like 100% LED lit stations, Solar power generation, water recycling and rejuvenation of old wells and developing the greenery along the track and among railway colonies etc.
The General Manager informed that 67 lifts in 30 stations and 44 escalators at 17 stations are already provided at various important stations on SCR towards enhancing passenger comfort. The General Manger also stated that SCR focused on cleanliness, towards this several trains are provided with on board housekeeping Services.
Shri Gajanan Mallya assured the ZRUCC members that their suggestions and views expressed during the meeting will be given due consideration while formulating plans for improving amenities and services. The members were also apprised of the performance of SCR and developmental works under progress through a power point presentation.
The members appreciated the efforts of SCR and its positive response to representations of members. The suggestions from various members include additional stoppage of express trains at important towns; setting up of more additional escalators and lifts; improving the cleanliness at stations; provision of more Jan ahaar stalls; extension of platforms; augmentationof trains by additional coaches; construction of ROBs/RUBs; expedition completion of new line and doubling projects; enhancing security on trains especially for women passengers.
Shri N.Narendar, Hon’ble MLA, Warangal, Shri B.B.Singh, Addl. General Manager and Principal Heads of all departments participated in the meeting. Shri Sreenivas Reddy, Deputy General Manager (General) and Secretary ZRUCC convened the meeting.
