South Central Railway (SCR) has decided to run a special Rajdhani service for a route proving trial on 17th December 2019. The trial is to take place between Secunderabad (SC) and Balharshah (BPQ) stations.
The trial comes soon after Railway Board’s directive to switch all Rajdhanis to Push-Pull configuration by the end of March 2020.
A 22 coach rake modified for Push-Pull configuration will be used for this trial. One live WAP-5 or WAP-7 locomotive will be attached at both ends of the consist.
The special will leave Secunderabad at 09:15 hrs and is expected to reach Balharshah station at 13:45 hrs. SCR expects to cover the 367-kilometre distance in 4 hours 30 minutes at a maximum speed of 120 kph.
The train is expected to start from Balharshah at 14:15 hrs and reach Secunderabad at 19:15 hours, covering the same distance in 5 hours.
