The 12771/72 Secunderabad-Nagpur Superfast express will soon be extended to Raipur. The extension has been approved by the ministry and the date of extension will be announced soon.
The timings of 12771 have been slightly tweaked. It will depart Secunderabad at 10 PM instead of 10.15 PM and arrive at Nagpur at 8.30 AM instead of 8.15 AM. On its extended run, it will depart Nagpur at 8.40 AM and arrive at Raipur at 1.50 PM. In the return direction, 12772 will depart Raipur at 4.30 PM and arrive Nagpur by 9.50 PM. There is no change of timings further from Nagpur as it departs at 10 PM and reaches Secunderabad by 8.25 PM.
It is slightly disappointing that the timings between Secunderabad and Nagpur have been increased by 30 mins instead of reducing the same. The train also takes 5hrs 10 mins between Nagpur and Raipur, while many others do the same journey in a little over 4 hours. We hope that the train will be speeded up in the next time table revision.
On its extended run, the train will stop at Gondia Jn, Rajnandgaon and Durg.
The triweekly train runs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from Secunderabad and will run on Tuesdays, Thursday and Saturday from Raipur (as it does from Nagpur currently). It would be a boon to the passengers if the train is made a daily as it has over 100% occupancy rate.
The current coach composition is 8 Sleeper Class, 2 AC 3 Tier and 2 AC 2 Tier coaches apart from 4 unreserved General Sitting and two EOG coaches to power the 18 LHB coaches.
Augmentation of the train with two Sleeper and two AC 3 Tier coaches to cater to the extra demand as a result of the extension will now be needed. As the train runs on a fully electrified route with LHB coaches, one of the EOG coaches could be removed and another reserved coach added if the train runs on HOG technology.
