South Eastern Railway achieved 5% growth in freight loading in February 2021 over the same month last year, according to data released by the zone.
15.7 million tons of freight was loaded in February 2021, a 5% increase over 14.95 million tons in February 2020. Out of this, Chakradharpur division alone loaded 12.34 million tons of goods, says SER.
SER’s freight basket primarily consists of iron ore, coal, pig iron & finished steel, cement, food grains and fertilisers.
Revenue generation from freight loading in Feb 2021 was Rs. 1,369.31 crores as against Rs. 1,261.1 crores in the previous year, registering a growth of 8.58%.
In the eleven months of the financial year 2020-21, the zone has loaded 157.57 million tons of freight as against 156.73 million tons loaded during the corresponding period of the last FY.
