Cleanliness and Sanitization in South Eastern Railway is a multidisciplinary responsibility and vests with various departments of the Railway. Keeping in view the tough challenge posed by COVID-19, South Eastern Railway has undertaken massive Cleanliness & Sanitization Drive on Railway Offices, trains, station premises and other railway establishments to prevent the spread of Coronavirus Pandemic. Multitude precautionary measures have been taken by South Eastern Railway to support its workforce with disinfected infrastructures and clean environment and this is a continuous process.
Cleaning staff have been engaged to spray disinfectant within the railway offices, premises of the stations particularly on the platforms and railway areas etc. Arrangements have also been made to clean coaches using disinfectant during sanitization. Daily cleaning, sanitization & disinfection of all offices, stations, depots, colonies, control offices etc. are being undertaken.
This intensive cleanliness and sanitization drive is being monitored at apex level. The employees who are engaged in this mission are advised to maintain social distancing. Thermal screening of these staff is being carried out daily and they are also counseled to adopt health safety measures. Mass awareness is also is being done for following the Covid-19 Guidelines. Posters have been put up at Stations and railway premises to aware the railway men and rail users to contain the spread of Covid-19.
The frontline warriors i.e. Loco Pilots, Guards, Station Managers, Yard Masters, Controllers, Traffic Inspectors etc of SER have been working round the clock for maintaining uninterrupted supply of essential commodities to different parts of the country through parcel express and special trains. It is very essential & commendable services to the Nation when the country is under crisis.
Frontline Staff have been given face masks, sanitizers, soaps and gloves to safe guard themselves from the deadly pandemic. Doctors, Nurses and other health care personnel have also been provided with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) produced in-house. Employees and stakeholders without face covers are not being allowed to enter railway offices and premises. Railway areas and Public Interfaces have been under Sanitization programme to ensure disinfection leading to hygiene and health. Besides, South Eastern Railway has been bolstering its preparedness to meet any future challenge in every sector within the ambit.
