Business Development Unit (BDU), Thiruvananthapuram Division, Southern Railway functioning to improve Ease of Doing Business(EoDB) has captured a new freight traffic by transporting Rubber Products in NMG Wagons today.
NMG Rake with Rubber Products From Chalakkudi to Mirzapur Bachaud
A freight train with 25 New Modified Goods(NMG) Wagons carrying Rubber Products especially Automobile Tyres loaded at Chalakkudi Yard is scheduled for Mirzapur Bachaud(Haryana) today(01st July, 2021). Fetching a revenue of Rs 15.8 lakhs to the division, the 252 Tonne freight with Automobile Tyres from manufacturing units of leading Automobile Tyre Makers(Appollo, Chalakkudi & Kalamasseri and MRF Kottayam) and HLL Life Care Products will leave Chalakkudi later tonight.

NMG Rakes for loading Power Tillers manufactured by KAMCO.
NMG rakes were first used to transport Power Tillers manufactured by Kerala Agro Machinery Corporation(KAMCO), Angamali on 20th May 2021. 661 Power Tillers were loaded from Ernakulam Junction. The division earned a freight revenue of Rs 25.83 Lakhs. This pioneer 2Point freight rake as the rakes were split delivered at two destinations en route. The destinations were Changsari (247 Power Tillers) and Furkating Jn.(414 Power Tillers) in the state of Assam. The NMG rakes enabled quick loading of Power Tillers.
Highly Perishable Planting Material Transported by GS Coach.
As a part of CLRPDP(Credit Linked Rubber Plantation Development Plan), in line with Atma Nirbhar Bharat Mission, Rubber Saplings developed by Rubber Board, India from its nurseries across Kerala was transported from Thiruvananthapuram Central to Guwahati by Second Class General Class(GS) coach of Train No. 02507 Thiruvananthapuram – Silchar (Aronai) Weekly express on 18th May 2021. This novel initiative helped the division earn Rs. 1.10 lakh. Rubber board aims to transport Two Lakh rubber saplings through Railways to seven northeastern states by this project.
Indian Railways being the energy-efficient mode of transport, functioning even during pandemic challenges is being preferred by transporters. Railways is also encouraging bulk parcel traffic by trains.
